Specialist community and public health nurse
Support and enable people to make informed choices about how to manage health challenges
A specialist community and public health nurse works in the NHS, local authorities, community interest companies, social enterprises or schools to assess the health needs of individuals, families, workplaces and the wider community to promote and protect good health and wellbeing, prevent illness, and provide interventions or advice. In this role, you’ll support and enable people to make informed choices about how to manage health challenges in order to maximise their quality of life and improve health outcomes. You’ll also focus on deprivation, vulnerability and advocacy, and may work in challenging circumstances within adverse home and working conditions. This can mean working with adults or children in their own home, a healthcare setting or the workplace. You’ll also contribute to safeguarding children and adults.
Duration: 18 months
Relevant school subjects: Science
Entry requirements: Must already be a registered nurse on Part 1 of the NMC register or a registered midwife
Achievement upon completion: Level 7 (Degree)—equivalent to a master’s degree
Potential salary upon completion: £30,000
