Construction equipment maintenance technician apprenticeship

Keep construction machinery running safely and efficiently on site

As a construction equipment maintenance technician apprentice, you’ll learn how to inspect, service, and repair heavy machinery used in construction, such as excavators, bulldozers, dump trucks, and cranes. You’ll help make sure this vital equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.

During your apprenticeship, you’ll develop skills in mechanical, electrical, electronic, and hydraulic systems. You’ll learn how to carry out planned maintenance, diagnose faults, replace worn parts, and use diagnostic tools to identify and fix issues. Safety, accuracy, and attention to detail are essential in this role.

You’ll often work on construction sites, in workshops, or outdoors in all weathers. You’ll need to be practical, physically fit, and a good problem-solver. Working closely with engineers and site teams, you’ll help keep projects moving.

With experience, you could become a senior technician, move into equipment inspection or management, or specialise in certain types of machinery.
