A motor vehicle accident repair technician repairs all elements of a vehicle after it has sustained some type of collision damage. These range from small damage through to heavily impacted types of damage, requiring complex and detailed repair or replacement of major structural elements of the vehicle. As an accident repair technician, you’ll work in a modern, highly technical workshop on a range of vehicles, from cars to light commercial vehicles. You’ll train in all vehicle accident repair, including mechanical, electrical and trim, and panel repair and replacement, as well as preparation and paint. You’ll be able to interpret and work accurately, to detailed and complex technical repair specifications and instructions and, at times, obtain these instructions from a range of electronic sources. You’ll work in a focused, analytical and methodical fashion, completing repairs on time, every time with a right-first-time attitude, putting customer satisfaction to the forefront of everything you do.


Duration: 24 months

Relevant school subjects: Science and DT

Entry requirements: Depend on employer, but likely GCSEs or equivalent qualifications

Achievement upon completion: Level 3 (Advanced)—equivalent to A-levels

Potential salary upon completion: £20,000 per annum
