Advanced carpentry and joinery

Advanced carpentry and joinery

Make and install wooden structures, fittings and furniture

On the advanced carpentry and joinery apprenticeship, you’ll train as an advanced carpenter and joiner, primarily using timber products, either on a construction site or in a workshop, to create and install building components. You’ll also learn to manage your own work and lead small teams. The advanced carpentry and joinery apprenticeship will train you to carry out complex and non-standard work, such as curved products, irregular joins and bespoke work, requiring high levels of practical skills and knowledge. You’ll be able to specialise as either an advanced site carpenter, usually employed to work on building sites, or as an advanced architectural joiner, most likely based in a workshop producing complex components. Completion of this apprenticeship will meet the requirement of the Construction Skills Certification Scheme ‘Advanced Skilled Worker’ standard.
