Develop, maintain and optimise the UK’s cellular network and its infrastructure.
As we move over to long term evolution (LTE) and 5G technology, new skillsets are needed! Be part of the revolution. Cellular network field engineers provide an essential role in supporting the UK’s 5G rollout. In this apprenticeship, you’ll be helping to reduce the UK’s carbon footprint (sometimes by up to 75%) and become part of our journey to carbon zero. You’ll learn how to install and maintain 4G and 5G electrical and electronic technology on masts in a range of locations and environments. Your work could include complex DC and AC electrical systems, fibre cabling, active radio modules, and radio frequency (RF) systems. The apprenticeship is field-based, which means you could be moving around and working in all kinds of places, like rural sites; urban rooftops or streets; and smaller locations like shops and offices. A cellular network field engineer apprenticeship might suit you if you enjoy working in different locations, and you don’t mind working at height. Potential employers include mobile network operators, tower companies, facilities management, and design and construction companies.
