Looking after the technical, organising and supervising side of construction projects. 

As a civil engineering senior technician apprentice, you will play a vital role in coordinating and managing various aspects of construction projects. You’ll oversee the technical planning, design, and execution of infrastructure and building projects. Your responsibilities will include applying your technical knowledge to suggest suitable techniques and methods for civil engineering solutions. Using advanced calculations and analytical software, you’ll analyse problems and develop proven solutions while following industry standards and regulatory requirements. Throughout your civil engineering senior technician apprenticeship, you’ll interact with project managers, engineers, and other professionals, collaborating to make sure that projects are completed safely, sustainably, and according to specifications. You’ll keep learning and improving as you go, adapting to different situations, throughout the civil engineering senior technician apprenticeship. With a focus on sustainability and environmental considerations, you’ll contribute to projects aligned with net-zero carbon emissions targets and environmental policies. 

 

Duration: 36 months 

Relevant school subjects: Science and maths 

Entry requirements for the civil engineering senior technician apprenticeship: Varies by employer, but likely at least GCSE grade 4 in English and Maths or equivalent.

Achievement upon completion: Level 4 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree 

Potential salary upon completion: £42,000
