Make sewn products that meet specifications and quality criteria
As a sewing machinist apprentice, you’ll enter the dynamic world of manufacturing and combine precision and creativity! During the sewing machinist apprenticeship, you’ll learn to craft sewn products with precision and care, whether it’s clothing, medical textiles, or soft furnishings. You’ll work with industrial sewing machines, mastering techniques like lockstitching and blind hemming to bring designs to life. Your workplace might be a large factory or a smaller workshop. As part of a team or working independently, you’ll collaborate with colleagues across functions, making sure that production is seamless (excuse the pun). Attention to detail is paramount as you will need to conduct quality checks and maintain machinery, all while following health and safety regulations. You will also learn sustainable practices such as how to minimise waste and embrace recycling.
