Undertake tree inspections and surveys

During your arboriculturist apprenticeship you’ll work in arboricultural, utility, facilities management and ground maintenance organisations, which could include local authorities, consultancies, estates, commercial organisations and charities. This is a complex and varied role and your purpose will be to undertake tree inspections and surveys, recording information on tree management databases and to evaluate each tree individually. You’ll be responsible for assessing tree health and risk, managing contractors, dealing with complaints and understanding and applying law relating to trees, prepare and assess planning applications. In your daily work you’ll interact with colleagues, the public, stakeholders, landowners, lawyers and utility companies. Other job titles could include arboricultural officer, assistant tree officer and arborist sales representative.

 

Duration: 30 months

Relevant school subjects: Science and geography

Entry requirements: For an arboriculturist apprenticeship you’ll need an upper 2nd class degree or significant prior experience, you may require a level 2 or 3 arboricultural qualification

Achievement upon completion: Level 4 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree and above

Potential salary upon completion: £20,000 per annum
