Support vocational and professional development

The assessor-coach uses their up-to-date professional knowledge and skills to support vocational and professional development across the formal education and training sector. In this role, you may coach and assess apprentices, trainees or new recruits (ranging from young entrants, to new CEOs) in the workplace, in relation to your own level of experience and qualifications. You’ll coach and assess vocational learners, usually on a one-to-one basis, in a range of learning environments. Coaching skills involve complex communication techniques to actively listen, provide feedback and to engage learners in planning their individualised learning programme. These skills are also integral to assessing learners’ competence in work-related and industry standards and life skills. You’ll work cooperatively with teachers, human resource professionals and mentors and supervisors in the workplace to support the learner’s development.

 

Duration: 15 months

Relevant school subjects: Business studies, English and maths

Entry requirements: A qualification, at an appropriate level, and relevant up-to-date experience. Employers may also require a level 3 qualification in assessing

Achievement upon completion: Level 4 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree

Potential salary upon completion: £25,000 per annum
