Aviation ground operative

Aviation ground operative

Support the safe arrival, turnaround and departure of aircraft

An aviation ground operative can work at a commercial airport, military base/aerodrome, heliport or other airfield. With five key specialist functions, all working in conjunction with each other, you’ll be a part of the teams above and below the wing, ensuring the efficient and effective arrival, turnaround and departure of aircraft. Safety, security and compliance with aviation regulations will focus your day-to-day duties. As an apprentice, you’ll develop effective communication and the ability to work in a team to ensure that passenger services, air traffic control and those moving, loading, unloading and servicing a range of aircraft achieve the objectives of their organisation in this diverse field. Apprentices will also have to specialise in one of five key areas: aircraft handling, aircraft movement, fire-fighting, flight operations or passenger services.
