Ventilation hygiene ensures that ventilation systems are maintained in a clean condition as required by statutory regulation, to ensure the wellbeing and safety of those within the built environment. A building services engineering ventilation hygiene technician cleans and decontaminates ventilation systems to ensure compliance with industry standards. You’ll learn to undertake condition risk assessments, pre-clean testing, clean, post-clean testing, and create a detailed profile of the ductwork system, including any remedial action. You’ll develop a detailed knowledge of systems and how they operate. You’ll be able to identify and plan work requirements from engineering drawings and client instructions; liaise with clients, other trades, and suppliers; solve problems within your scope of responsibility; and ensure compliance with standards.
Duration: 24 months
Relevant school subjects: Science
Entry requirements: English and maths at level 2
Achievement upon completion: Level 3 (Advanced)—equivalent to A-levels
Potential salary upon completion: £21,000 per annum
