Data protection and information governance practitioner apprenticeship

Provide regulatory and technical advice to key stakeholders and regulators

Organisations must comply with information governance (IG) legislation to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of its information assets. During the data protection and information governance practitioner apprenticeship, you’ll work for organisations where personal and commercial data is processed. In your day-to-day role, you will assist in the planning and organising of IG, ethics and data protection (DP) activities. You’ll also provide advice and training with regard to improving data management and will support the senior team in developing operational and strategic information requirements. The role requires work to be undertaken under explicit and legally defined timeframes (for example, data breaches must be reported within 72 hours). You’ll work as part of team, occasionally responsible for decision making, but more often will guide or influence the decision of others.

 

Duration: 18 months

Relevant school subjects: Business studies

Entry requirements for the data protection and information governance practitioner: Depend on employer, but likely A-levels or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience

Achievement upon completion: Level 4 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree and above

Potential salary upon completion: £34,000 per annum
