Service, repair and maintain lift trucks and powered access vehicles

During the lift truck and powered access engineering technician apprenticeship you’ll be responsible for inspecting and maintaining vehicles and equipment, as well as diagnosing and repairing faults. Vehicles you’ll work on could include manual, electric, diesel, LPG, and hybrid powered machines—both tracked and wheeled, vertical mast type machines—both static and self-propelled, along with equipment mounted on vehicles, such as; fork lift, scissor lift, vertical mast, articulated and telescopic boom, elevated work platform machines—both static and self-propelled, along with equipment mounted on vehicles. You could work in a range of locations such as in a workshop, repair centre, warehouse, foundry, cold-store, manufacturing plant, engineering, construction site, storage and logistics site or any field service environment.

 

Duration: 36 months

Relevant school subjects: Engineering and science

Entry requirements for the lift truck and powered access engineering technician apprenticeship: Depend on employer, but likely GCSEs or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience

Achievement upon completion: Level 3 (Advanced)—equivalent to A-levels

Potential salary upon completion: £21,000 per annum
