Outdoor learning specialist apprenticeship

Design, plan and deliver programmes that provide learning and change using outdoor activities and experience

Working outdoors in a range of educational settings, with both individuals and groups, you’ll aim to work on areas including educational achievement, personal and social development, health and wellbeing, nature connection, outdoor science, teamwork and practical skills development. During the outdoor learning specialist apprenticeship, you’ll need to manage the equipment and solve any problems within the group or environment, using appropriate problem solving, recovery or emergency response. Working conditions may at times be physically and emotionally demanding, remote, unpredictable and complex, so you’ll need to adapt well to any changes. You’ll need a strong connection to the environment in order to promote on-going activity and positive engagement with the outdoors.

 

Duration: 24 months

Relevant school subjects: PE, geography

Entry requirements for the outdoor learning specialist apprenticeship: Depend on employer, but likely A-levels or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience. You’ll need to undertake the Disclosure and Barring Service process and provide the result

Achievement upon completion: Level 5 (Advanced)—equivalent to a foundation degree

Potential salary upon completion: £21,000 per annum
