Pest control technician

Pest control regulates or manages a species known as a pest and that can be perceived to be detrimental to a person’s health, the environment or the economy. As a pest control technician, you’ll work within a range of industrial, commercial and domestic environments. You’ll develop a knowledge of pest biology and behaviour and use it to survey sites, identify levels of pest infestations, determine appropriate actions to eradicate pests and prevent re-infestation. Your work will typically include routine proactive visits and one-off reactive visits to solve immediate pest issues. Duration: 18 months
Relevant school subjects: Science
Entry requirements: Disclosure and Barring Service check and four GCSEs, including maths and English. Relevant experience would be advantageous
Achievement upon completion: Level 2 (Intermediate)—equivalent to GCSEs
Potential salary upon completion: £21,000 per annum
