Chloe Wilson is a community engagement specialist apprentice at Sky

 

What’s the culture like at Sky? How are you supported?

At Sky I never felt on my own or unsupported. I felt lucky in that I was introduced to a great team, with a great support system in our buddies, managers, and operations managers. Tenured colleagues are some of the most supportive as everyone is always so willing to teach you skills and techniques they have learned over time. There are also many opportunities to build relationships within Sky and as much as it’s a huge place we are a very close-knit community.

 

What has been the highlight of your apprenticeship?

Sky made our apprenticeship really enjoyable and as a young team we were really encouraged to be ourselves and have fun in our role. I have great memories of my 12 months as an apprentice, but I’d say the highlight of my time as an apprentice was my team. We became such good friends and made some great memories as a group.

 

How has this apprenticeship helped your career?

I’m so glad I began my journey with Sky the way I did. Being part of such a young group of people we were given full support from the get-go, our leaders fully understood our needs and we learned some very valuable life and work skills. The apprenticeship gave me such a strong foundation to carry on our role at Sky and progress.

 

What advice would you give to someone applying for or considering this apprenticeship?

Take the jump! Sky is a huge company to work for but don’t let that scare you. At Sky you’re welcomed as part of the bigger picture, the benefits are immense, the financial gain was huge for me in comparison to what I was doing before, colleagues become friends and you really can make a difference. I blinked and I’ve now hit five years at Sky, I haven’t looked back and you won’t too!
