AstraZeneca: Becca Goodwin

AstraZeneca: Becca Goodwin

Becca Goodwin, 22, found rotations within her department to be a particular highlight of her IT and digital solutions degree apprenticeship at AstraZeneca

How long have you worked at AstraZeneca and what do you enjoy about your role?

I’ve worked at AstraZeneca for four years and have recently secured a permanent role. I am a customer engagement analyst in end user services of IT and absolutely love it. While rotating around various areas of IT throughout my scheme, I found I enjoy data analytics, which is what my new role is centred around.

Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship at AstraZeneca?

Carrying on my education was important, but I didn’t want to spend time and money doing a full-time degree. Being able to complete a BSc and rotate around different areas of the company to find a role I loved is what really appealed to me.

How would you describe the culture at AstraZeneca?

I found the culture extremely nurturing and supportive. It was daunting doing a full-time job alongside studying, but I quickly discovered everyone wanted to help. I think the supportive culture really helped me develop the way that I have over the past four years.

What has been the most rewarding/interesting project you have been involved in and why?

During my final rotation, I worked with pharmaceutical technology and development to automate their metric collection and visualisation processes. This process used to take five days per month, so saving that time allowed quality analysts to be working on resolving issues, rather than collecting data.
