AstraZeneca: Oscar Verracchia

AstraZeneca: Oscar Verracchia

Oscar Verracchia, 22, is enjoying the freedom and responsibility that has been given to him over the course of his HR consultant apprenticeship at AstraZeneca

How long have you worked for AstraZeneca and what do you enjoy about your role?

I have worked at AstraZeneca for two years. What I enjoy most about my role is the freedom and responsibility that has been given to me over the course of the apprenticeship. My hiring managers and colleagues have always taken my interests into account and this has allowed me to venture into projects that I have a passion for and can add significant value to.

Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship at AstraZeneca?

Having already tried university for a year, I soon realised the importance of on the-job-training and experience. The opportunity to gain valuable experience while obtaining a qualification was something that I valued.

How would you describe the culture at AstraZeneca?

The culture is very collaborative and friendly. Being an apprentice, I was frequently given support and insights, and everyone always made time for me. This was great in helping me to settle in.

What has been the most interesting/rewarding project that you have been involved in and why?

The most interesting project I have been involved in would be the Beamery project. Beamery is a candidate relationship management tool that helps organisations stay connected with previous applicants. I had the opportunity to go to workshops in London and see Beamery’s developer present the product to us and now, a few months on, I am seeing the value that implementing this tool at AstraZeneca has had.
