Urban driver apprenticeship

Urban driver apprenticeship

Transport goods by road to an agreed destination, quality and time standard

Urban drivers work for a variety of business areas that depend on the delivery and collection of goods by road, such as retail, removals, construction, agriculture and manufacturing. This is different to large goods vehicle drivers who typically operate a point-to-point service, driving a much higher mileage, using larger and heavier lorries. Your work will be time critical, often serving multiple customers each day and in congested areas, so it’s important to provide a high level of customer service at all times. In your daily work you’ll interact with customers, liaising arrival and meeting times; with professionals in the warehouses; and with support staff back at base to report progress. Daily vehicle checks will also be necessary on the urban driver apprenticeship to ensure your vehicle is well maintained.
