Bioinformatics scientist apprenticeship

Apply computing, data analytical and data mining techniques to a range of problems in the life sciences

A bioinformatics scientist—or bioinformatician—uses computing, data analytical and data mining techniques that are applied to a range of problems in the life sciences, such as the process of drug discovery and development. Roles require scientists who understand the life sciences, and who can use computers for diverse and large volumes of data derived from different life science activities. Broadly, you’ll research, develop and apply computing tools and approaches for expanding the use of life science data, as well as acquiring, storing, organising, archiving, analysing and visualising this data. This is so you can aid the development and application of data-analytical and theoretical methods, mathematical modelling and computational simulation techniques to study. As a bioinformatician, you’ll work as part of a collaborative group or team of scientists, drawing together life scientists, statisticians and computational infrastructure specialists. As a result, you m
