Max Donohoe is an apprentice with JTL at Pimlico Plumbers, a leading firm of heating and plumbing installers based in the heart of London
Max is employed by Pimlico Plumbers while serving a four-year apprenticeship, which is supported throughout by JTL, the leading building services engineering apprenticeship provider.
Pimlico Plumbers started life in 1979 from a basement of an estate agent in Pimlico—the brainchild of MD Charlie Mullins. The firm has been at the forefront of changing attitudes to heating and plumbing businesses, raising standards of customer service and even changing attitudes to things like wearing uniforms—looking smart, turning up for appointments on time, in clean, modern vans—and providing an excellent level of workmanship as standard.
Max is delighted with his apprenticeship so far and received a free toolkit worth more than £150 from the joint agreement JTL has with Monument Tools: “It’s great to get your own tools,” Max said. “As an apprentice, I assumed I’d get ‘hand me down’ tools that were well used, but these give me a sense of pride—they’re mine and it’s up to me to look after them. Taking the apprenticeship is the best thing I could have done. It’s an area of work that has always interested me and I want to follow Mr Mullins’ example—get qualified, learn my trade and run my own business one day.”
