Apprenticeships to consider if your favourite subject is English

If you have a love of literature and a creative way with words, then consider an apprenticeship with a focus on English.

A love of English can give you transferable skills that will help you engage people through your love of language. During your apprenticeship, you could develop skills in copywriting, time management, planning and researching. There is a wide range of careers available to you, such as public relations, human resources, advertising, copywriter or journalist.

Here is a selection of apprenticeships on offer that all have a focus on the subject of English at their core.

 

Academic professionalYou’ll need a level 7 qualification in your area of specialism to work within the higher education sector, teaching and delivering research. The duration is 18 months and you’ll achieve a level 7 higher apprenticeship upon completion.

Advertising and media executive: Working in the media industry, you’ll oversee the day-to-day progress of the whole advertising process. The duration is 18 months and you’ll achieve a level 3 apprenticeship upon completion.

Broadcast production assistant: As a broadcast production assistant, you’ll provide support and assistance to help with the delivery of content for television or radio shows. The duration is 12 months and you’ll achieve a level 3 apprenticeship upon completion.

Creative digital design professional: As a confident design professional, you’ll provide compelling digitally enabled design solutions for clients. The duration is 36 months and you’ll achieve a level 6 degree apprenticeship upon completion.

Digital marketing manager: You’ll lead on the creation and execution of a digital marketing strategy through a range of channels. The duration is 36 months and you’ll achieve a level 6 degree apprenticeship upon completion.

Fundraiser: Working in a team, you’ll raise awareness and funds for charitable causes from a range of sources. The duration is 18 months and you’ll achieve a level 3 apprenticeship upon completion.

Junior journalist: You’ll generate and produce stories for publication and or broadcast using words, pictures and video footage. The duration is 18 months and you’ll achieve a level 3 apprenticeship upon completion.

Library, information and archive services assistant: You’ll help service users find the information and resources they need in order to resolve their specific query. The duration is 18 months and you’ll achieve a level 3 apprenticeship upon completion.

PR and communications assistant: Working for an agency or in-house, you’ll help build, protect and maintain a positive reputation for brands, organisations and individuals. The duration is 12 months and you’ll achieve a level 4 apprenticeship upon completion.
