
Work within the higher education sector to deliver teaching and research
In the academic professional apprenticeship role, you may work in universities, colleges or the private sector, primarily developing and sharing knowledge with students, peers and external stakeholders to support the advancement of the discipline and the resolution of major challenges. You’ll play an active role in supporting a range of people, including students, funders, stakeholders and government, to gain insight into their specialist discipline area. You’ll engage in continuing professional development in both your discipline and your practice of teaching, and make use of appropriate technologies to support the acquisition of knowledge. During this apprenticeship, you’ll undertake the core role and follow one of two specialist routes: either teaching and supporting learning, or undertaking research.

Entry requirements for the academic professional apprenticeship: A postgraduate degree (level 7) qualification in an area of disciplinary specialism
Achievement upon completion: Level 7 (Higher)—equivalent to a master’s degree
Potential salary upon completion: £38,000 per annum
