A business fire safety adviser apprenticeship works with businesses to help them keep their premises safe from fire by offering advice and education to reduce risk. The adviser also recognises and takes appropriate steps when enforcement action may be required. In this role, you’ll contribute to the aims of saving life, preventing injury, enhancing business continuity and protecting premises. As an apprentice, you’ll typically be employed by a fire and rescue service. You’ll undertake a diverse mix of essential work, including visits to a wide spectrum of businesses and joint visits with other agencies in order to actively support and promote business safety. You may also undertake proactive promotional work at events and reactive work after incidents to raise awareness of fire safety in the business community. As an ambassador of fire and rescue services, you’ll represent your organisation and will demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
Duration: 24 months
Relevant school subjects: Business studies and science
Entry requirements for the business fire safety adviser apprenticeship: ICT literate and two GCSEs in maths and English
Achievement upon completion: Level 3 (Advanced)—equivalent to A-levels
Potential salary upon completion: £31,000 per annum
