Engineering and manufacturing support technician apprenticeship

Provide technical support to keep engineering and manufacturing processes running smoothly

As an engineering and manufacturing support technician apprentice, you’ll help ensure that manufacturing operations are efficient, safe, and continuously improving. You’ll work alongside engineers and production teams to solve problems, improve systems, and support projects from planning through to delivery.

During your apprenticeship, you’ll learn how to collect and analyse data, prepare reports, support quality checks, and help manage the maintenance of machinery or production lines. You’ll also gain knowledge of lean manufacturing, health and safety, environmental controls, and digital systems used in modern engineering environments.

You’ll need strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with others and manage time effectively. Communication and IT skills are important, as much of your work may involve digital tools and collaboration with different departments.

With experience, you could progress into engineering project management, quality control, continuous improvement roles, or move into a more specialised technical support area.
