An engineering operative carries out a range of engineering operations that could include ensuring machines and equipment are maintained and serviceable, dealing with breakdowns, carrying out restorations and repairs, fabrication and installation, and providing technical support. During the engineering operative apprenticeship, you’ll carry out engineering activities and checks, while adhering to safety requirements, identifying hazards and following work instructions. The engineering operative role is applicable across sectors and where you undertake this apprenticeship will determine which area you specialise in. This could include maintenance, mechanical manufacturing engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, fabrication, materials, processing or finishing, and technical support.
Duration: 12 months

Entry requirements for the engineering operative apprenticeship: Depend on employer
Achievement upon completion: Level 2 (Intermediate)—equivalent to GCSEs
Potential salary upon completion: £25,000 per annum
