
Deliver great customer service in restaurants, cafés, pubs, and hospitality venues
As a food and beverage team member apprentice, you’ll be at the heart of delivering excellent service to guests in a range of settings—from high street restaurants and hotels to cafés, pubs, and event venues. Your role will involve preparing and serving food and drink, greeting customers, and helping to create a welcoming dining experience.
During your apprenticeship, you’ll learn how to take customer orders, serve food and beverages, deal with payments, and follow hygiene, health, and safety standards. Depending on your employer, you could also gain experience in bar service, barista duties, hosting, or supporting events.
You’ll develop strong communication and teamwork skills, working in a fast-paced environment where customer satisfaction is key. With experience, you could progress to more senior roles such as team leader, supervisor, or restaurant manager.
Duration: 12 months
Relevant school subjects: Hospitality, English, Business studies
Entry requirements: Level 1 English and maths, and you must take Level 2 tests before completing the apprenticeship. Other requirements may depend on the employer
Achievement upon completion: Level 2 (Intermediate) – equivalent to GCSEs
Potential salary upon completion: £18,000–£22,000 per annum
