Furniture finisher apprenticeship

Add the final touches to handcrafted or manufactured furniture

As a furniture finisher apprentice, you’ll learn how to apply finishing techniques that bring out the quality, appearance, and durability of furniture products. This includes preparing surfaces, applying stains, paints, lacquers, and oils, and using both hand and spray finishing methods.

During your apprenticeship, you’ll gain skills in sanding, sealing, colour matching, and polishing different types of wood and materials. You’ll work with traditional techniques as well as modern tools and technology to achieve a high-quality finish that meets customer expectations.

You’ll need an eye for detail, good colour perception, and a steady hand. Patience, creativity, and pride in your work are key qualities, as the final finish plays a big role in how furniture looks and feels.

With experience, you could specialise in restoration, become a team leader, or work in bespoke furniture making or luxury interiors.
