Healthcare cleaning operative apprenticeship

Provide a clean healthcare environment to allow staff to continue to thrive, work and develop

This role requires specific attention to safety and sanitation in both public and private sector environments, including hospitals, care homes, health centres, schools and leisure facilities. During the healthcare cleaning operative apprenticeship you’ll provide a hygienically clean healthcare environment at a standard that supports and promotes the recovery of patients and prevents the spread of infection and cross contamination. You’ll also use your communication skills to make a positive contribution to the patient or pupils’ experience, dealing with a range of different needs. Shift work is common in this occupation and you’ll be responsible for routine and non-routine cleaning, including deep cleaning and rapid response cleaning to a standard of cleanliness set by organisational and policy guidelines.

 

Duration: 12 months

Relevant school subjects: Science

Entry requirements for the healthcare cleaning operative apprenticeship: Depend on employer, but likely GCSEs or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience

Achievement upon completion: Level 2 (Intermediate)—equivalent to GCSEs

Potential salary upon completion: £21,000
