Assist with the integration of live action footage and computer generated imagery
Visual effects describe any imagery created, altered, or enhanced for moving media. They involve the integration of live-action footage and computer-generated imagery to create images that look realistic but would be dangerous, costly or simply impossible to capture during live-action shooting. As a junior 2D visual effects artist, you’ll be responsible for assisting the senior visual effects artists by preparing elements for use in the final visual effects shot. During the junior 2D visual effects artist apprenticeship you’ll learn to create mattes by roto-scoping and keying to all elements of the scene to be layered convincingly; remove erroneous objects within the live-action footage; and produce simple composites. You’ll need to use your artistic knowledge in areas such as composition and colour, in addition to accepted industry standards, compositing software and operating systems to progress within visual effects.
