Lean manufacturing operative apprenticeship

Build products with different specifications

A lean manufacturing operative builds products with different specifications. For example, in automotive manufacturing, an operative will contribute to the high-volume production of multiple models of vehicles. During the lean manufacturing operative apprenticeship, you’ll prepare, control, contribute to and complete manufacturing operations, and follow processes and standard operating procedures while adhering to specific safe working policies and procedures, which are paramount. You’ll be responsible for wearing the correct protective equipment, using the right tools, carrying out safe stopping and resetting of machinery, and maintaining an organised work area. You’ll be required to contribute, develop and support improvement in the manufacturing operation using continuous improvement methods, process visualisation using lean principles and problem-solving tools and techniques. You’ll also be responsible for carrying out quality checks to ensure quality is built in and that any defects or concerns are highlighted and dealt with.
