Help create high-quality mattresses using specialist tools and techniques
As a mattress manufacturing operative apprentice, you’ll learn how to produce different types of mattresses by hand and with machinery. You’ll work with a variety of materials such as springs, foam, fabric, and stitching components to meet customer and quality standards.
During your apprenticeship, you’ll develop practical skills in tasks like assembling spring units, cutting and shaping foam, sewing covers, and finishing products. You’ll use hand tools and machines safely, follow production schedules, and carry out quality checks to ensure every mattress meets specification.
You’ll need good attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to follow instructions. Teamwork, time management, and a strong focus on safety are also important in a busy factory environment.
With experience, you could become a team leader, production supervisor, or specialise in areas such as quality control or machine maintenance.
