Orthodontic therapist apprenticeship

Support orthodontists by providing specialist dental care and treatment

As an orthodontic therapist apprentice, you’ll learn how to carry out orthodontic treatments under the supervision of an orthodontist or dentist. You’ll work with patients of all ages to help straighten teeth, improve bite alignment, and support oral health.

During your apprenticeship, you’ll gain skills in taking impressions, fitting orthodontic appliances, providing advice on oral hygiene, and monitoring treatment progress. You’ll also learn how to manage patient records and work within strict clinical and safety guidelines.

You’ll need good communication skills, empathy, and attention to detail. A caring approach and the ability to work effectively with both patients and clinical teams are essential.

With experience, you could progress to senior clinical roles, specialise further, or work in practice management.
