Plan, prepare and safely carry out work in process, product and space cooling

On a refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump engineering technician apprenticeship, you’ll plan, prepare and safely carry out work in process, product and space cooling. You’ll need to be able to work across refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pumping, so this apprenticeship will provide you with the necessary transferable knowledge and skills. Chief among these is a thorough understanding of the engineering principles of thermodynamics and the vapour compression cycle. As an apprentice technician, you’ll oversee the design, installation, routine maintenance, reactive service, commissioning and decommissioning of refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump systems in a whole host of business sectors, from food production to transport.

 

Duration: 36 months

Relevant school subjects: Science and DT

Entry requirements for the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump engineering technician apprenticeship: Depend on employer, but likely GCSEs or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience

Achievement upon completion: Level 3 (Advanced)—equivalent to A-levels

Potential salary upon completion: £33,000 per annum
