Senior metrology technician apprenticeship

Manage resources and measurement activities and implement processes and techniques that are sustainable

Metrology is the science of measurement. During the senior metrology technician apprenticeship, you’ll train in the development and monitoring of measurement capability and capacity, working toward gaining responsibility for the planning, quality, accuracy, timely delivery and evaluation of metrology activities within your area of responsibility. You’ll learn to apply a measurement strategy and understand its commercial impact. You’ll analyse, interpret and evaluate information and will be able to use this information to inform future measurement developments. You’ll participate in and provide advice on activities such as audits and risk assessments. You’ll also be able to build effective communication channels and relationships with colleagues, customers and stakeholders. Your knowledge of the industry, your own organisation and its customers will enable you to take the lead in finding strategic solutions to measurement problems and identifying areas for improvement.

 

Duration: 36 months

Relevant school subjects: Maths

Entry requirements for the senior metrology technician apprenticeship: GCSEs in English and maths and a relevant science subject. Other relevant or prior experience may also be considered

Achievement upon completion: Level 5 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree and above

Potential salary upon completion: £35,000 per annum
