Design, manufacture, fabricate and install signage
Working within small and medium enterprise businesses, during the signage technician apprenticeship you’ll supply signage products and services to a wide range of customers. The signs could be made from wood, vinyls, plastics, metal, glass, textiles, card and composites and could be used for vehicle signage including wraps, post-mounted signage such as traffic signs, building signage such as health and safety signs, or freestanding signs such as exhibition displays. You’ll work with customers to agree requirements, including costs and quotations and complete the work using computer-aided design. Once complete, you may directly install or work with others to install signs. You’ll work in a manufacturing workshop and daily tasks could include interaction with colleagues and customers, design, manufacturing, installation, sales and project management. Typical job titles could include graphic sign maker, sign installation technician and sign writer.
Duration: 24 months

Entry requirements for the signage technician apprenticeship: Depend on employer, but likely GCSEs or equivalent qualifications or experience.
Achievement upon completion: Level 3 (Advanced)—equivalent to A-levels
Potential salary upon completion: £25,000
