Install, configure, calibrate and troubleshoot a range of electrically connected digital home technologies
A smart home technician is the professional who installs, configures and maintains the ecosystem of devices that enable a homeowner to control the audio, video, home cinema, security, heating, air conditioning, window blind, door and gate devices within their home. During the smart home technician apprenticeship, you’ll work on construction sites and in homes to create integrated systems using a variety of equipment and services from other suppliers. These projects will vary in size and scale, from small homes to luxury mansions, yachts, and multi-dwelling developments, and will range from simple component installation to creating a complex, electronic integrated systems environment. You’ll train in the installation, configuration, calibration and troubleshooting of a range of electrically connected digital home technologies or separated extra-low voltage devices. To do this, you’ll develop a good working knowledge of common hardware, software, IP networking, audio and visual distribution, and radio frequency systems and user interfaces.
