Build and test simple, high-quality code for software
The primary role of a software developer is to build and test simple, high-quality code across front end, logic and database layers. During the software developer apprenticeship, you’ll typically work as part of a larger team, in which you’ll be responsible for some of the straightforward elements of the overall project. You’ll interpret design documentation and specifications, while the customer requirements will typically be defined and agreed by more experienced or specialist members of the team, such as a business analyst or technical architect. A software developer can go on to work in many areas, including web and app development, so you won’t be wanting for choice. To succeed in this apprenticeship, you’ll need to be a logical and creative thinker, as well as analytical and a good problem-solver.
