A vehicle damage paint technician works in the vehicle body repair sector of the motor industry. The role is to prepare, spray and finish vehicles that have been involved in collisions and other incidents in an efficient manner. Vehicles can include cars and light commercial vehicles. In this role, you’ll ensure correct colour match and final finish to the exacting standards of your company and customers. During the vehicle damage paint technician apprenticeship, you’ll train in the general principles of spray painting technology, paint composition, paint mixing and the various methods of paint spraying vehicles. You’ll prepare vehicles fully before painting to include masking, sanding and other necessary preparation work. You’ll also be responsible for keeping all company tools and equipment safe and in a clean, workable condition, paying particular attention to the reduction of any fire hazards.

Entry requirements for the vehicle damage paint technician apprenticeship: Depend on employer, but likely GCSEs or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience
Achievement upon completion: Level 3 (Advanced)—equivalent to A-levels
Potential salary upon completion: £30,000
