Undertake all types of wall and floor tiling

A wall and floor tiler operates in domestic and commercial properties undertaking all types of wall and floor tiling. The work is varied, as tilers utilise and install a wide range of ceramic and natural stone tiles using different techniques. During the wall and floor tiler apprenticeship, you’ll work both internally and externally, individually and as part of a team. You’ll develop a good knowledge of tiles, backgrounds and ancillary products, and understand and comply with statutory, safety and environmental requirements. You’ll be a good problem solver and communicator, and must be able to interpret drawings and extract relevant information to the task in hand. You’ll demonstrate safety in the workplace, have a strong work ethic, with good attention to detail and a customer-focused attitude.

 

Duration: 30 months

Relevant school subjects: DT

Entry requirements for the wall and floor tiler apprenticeship: Depend on employer, but likely GCSEs or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience

Achievement upon completion: Level 2 (Intermediate)—equivalent to GCSEs

Potential salary upon completion: £25,000 per annum
