Water industry treatment process technicians, also known as water process technicians, work in the water industry, ensuring the safe supply of clean water or the proper treatment of wastewater. During the water process technician apprenticeship, you’ll be employed by companies regulated by OFWAT, the UK government’s water services office. Good news if you’re eco-minded: this is a ‘green apprenticeship’ which has been hand-picked by industry experts to celebrate the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. You’ll focus on either clean water, ensuring a safe drinking supply, or wastewater treatment. As a water process technician apprentice, your work sites will vary from small to large treatment facilities, and you’ll often drive between sites, working in all weather conditions. Because water treatment operates 24/7, you may have standby duties and work shifts outside normal hours. Your main goal will be to maintain high standards in water or wastewater treatment processes.
