Make and sell baked goods, such as bread, cakes, pies, pastries and biscuits

As a bakery manager, you’ll develop an in-depth knowledge of bakery techniques and expertise in a range of bakery activities. You may work in craft, in store or in automated bakeries. You’ll gain a full understanding of product costing and quality monitoring processes and will spend time working on activities such as product development and improvement. You’ll develop both the knowledge and skills necessary to use problem-solving techniques, quality assurance and continuous improvement techniques. You may also be expected to lead others and will develop skills in leadership and management. On completion of the bakery manager apprenticeship, you may progress into more advanced technical or management roles. This apprenticeship is an ideal springboard for potential future leaders of the bakery industry.

 

Duration: 24 months

Relevant school subjects: Food technology and business studies

Entry requirements: Depend on employer, but likely GCSEs or equivalent

Achievement upon completion: Level 3 (Advanced)—equivalent to A-levels

Potential salary upon completion: £25,000 per annum
