“Cutting the hair and facial hair of men at specialist barber shops and hairdressing salons”
Barbering services are increasingly in demand, with the men’s grooming market growing consistently and specialist barber shops and hairdressing salons rising to meet this interest. Barbering has a unique position within the hair and beauty sector, as it combines traditional skills, such as scissors over comb and shaving, with new specialist techniques, such as 2D and 3D sculpting. It’s also shaped by cultural and fashion trends, acting as a career choice that reflects the society around it. This apprenticeship focuses on barbering for men. As an apprentice barber at the intermediate level, you’ll learn to carry out services such as cutting hair and facial hair, basic patterns, perming and neutralising, and colouring men’s hair. If you take the advanced apprenticeship, you’ll carry out services including patterns in hair, colouring, colour correction, creative hairdressing and perming, as well as shaving, and cutting and shaping beards and moustaches.
