“Building services engineering site management involves leading the installation of complex environmental systems in construction projects”

Building services are environmental systems in buildings such as electrical power, air conditioning, heating and lighting. Building services engineering site management staff lead the installation of complex environmental systems in construction projects. As an apprentice, you role title will vary, but will likely be assistant building services engineering site manager, building services installation manager or project engineer. Your main tasks will include translating design information to construction teams so they can install equipment, manage the productivity of the site and costs so that the project is completed and to budget, and ensure that the site has minimal negative impact on the environment and community. You must also ensure that safe systems of work are in place on your site and that all staff adhere to them. Upon completion of this apprenticeship, you’ll achieve a bachelor’s degree in building services engineering.

Duration: 48 months

Relevant school subjects: DT and business studies

Entry requirements: Level 4 construction technician apprenticeship, EngTech LCIBSE status, HNC in building services engineering, or equivalent

Achievement upon completion: Level 6 (Degree)—equivalent to a bachelor’s degree

Potential salary upon completion: £32,000 per annum
