Cyber security technologist

Manage and deal with cyber threats, hazards and risks
As an apprentice in the highly technical role of a cyber security technologist, you’ll apply an understanding of cyber threats, hazards, risks, controls, measures and mitigations to protect the organisation, its systems and people. The cyber security technologist apprenticeship will allow you to specialise as a technologist or a risk analyst. In the former role, you’ll develop an understanding of hardware and software and how they can be made secure on a network. You’ll learn to probe their security weaknesses against best practices, shore up their defences and implement improvements. In the latter role, you’ll carry out risk assessments according to cyber security standards and be able to identify vulnerabilities. You’ll also design and develop security policies and incident response plans, all the while gaining an understanding of wider cyber security culture, developing a keen eye for weaknesses and room for improvement.
