Design is a broad term, and designers can work in a range of industries including fashion, furniture, manufacturing and media. All designers work to come up with a concept that both serves a purpose and looks good. It’s a challenging and creative role. As an intermediate apprentice, you’ll take on a junior or assistant role, such as trainee technical illustrator. You’ll work as part of a team, supporting designers with the design and production of projects, including leaflets, stationery, brochures, logos and packaging. You’ll assist with briefs, produce marketing material or liaise with technical staff from other departments. As an advanced apprentice, you’ll train as a desktop publishing assistant, technical illustrator, junior product designer or assistant copywriter. Working online and offline, in print-based materials and other media, you’ll learn to take projects from initial brief through to completion.
