“Creating and selling floral displays through shops and other businesses”
The floristry apprenticeship focuses on the design, creation, retail and delivery of floral displays for a variety of occasions, as well as the wholesale buying of flowers, sundries and associated products and preparing them for sale. As an intermediate apprentice, you’ll work as either a junior florist, helping to prepare and assemble floral displays, or as a fully fledged florist, a role in which you’ll be relied upon to use your own creativity and knowledge of plants and flowers to design displays. The advanced apprenticeship will prepare you for running a business as a florist manager or senior florist, so you’ll be responsible for marketing and stock management, and working closely with customers. You’ll also develop an in-depth knowledge of plants and flowers. A senior florist will also be required to discuss client requirements, agree terms of sale and merchandise stock.
