This apprenticeship is no longer available, take a look at Funeral team member as an alternative option

“Funeral operations and services focuses on helping families through difficult times, providing care, support and reassurance when it matters most”

As an apprentice working in the funeral sector, you’ll be able to train for a number of roles. Funeral operatives are responsible for the day-to-day activities that are vital to the smooth running of a funeral. Your duties will include driving and caring for the vehicles that are involved in the funeral cortège, preparing and carrying the coffin and being available to clients to ensure that arrangements are being carried out as planned. At the advanced level, you’ll work in a more senior role, most likely as a funeral director with overall responsibility for arranging the funeral and conducting the ceremony. All of these roles will require you to have good personal skills and to show empathy for clients. The advanced apprenticeship provides a progression route if you complete the intermediate apprenticeship and aspire to progress to the director level within the funeral sector.
