“The leisure operations and management apprenticeship focuses on operating or running a sport, recreation or leisure facility”
Places with leisure and recreation facilities range from leisure and recreation centres to caravan and holiday parks. From swimming pools to sports halls, ice rinks to dry ski runs, this is a great area to work in if you are interested in both sport and business. As an intermediate apprentice, you may have responsibility for operating and maintaining equipment and facilities, or you may work in a more customer-facing role. Generally, you’ll need to work shifts, and sometimes unsociable hours. In holiday and caravan parks, the work may be seasonal. As a leisure centre manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the leisure facility, managing staff, facilities and/or services. Your job will include planning staff timetables, organising events and marketing material, recruiting staff, keeping up with health and safety regulations and promoting the centre in the local community.
