Assist in the production of a printed product or component
As a print operative you’ll be working within the printing, packaging, creative and design industries, on products that could include magazines and newspapers, packaging and signs, photo books and greetings cards and security products such as passports and credit cards. As an apprentice you’ll be trained and assessed against the core standard and one option from pre-press, press, or post-press operative. Pre=press operatives receive customer files and prepare them for printing, check for errors and produce proofs for customers. Press operatives set up the printing process, checking materials, inspecting output and cleaning machinery. While post-press operatives set up the finishing equipment, inspect outputs and report any issues. Pre-press operatives are typically office based, while press and post-press operatives work in a production environment such as a factory.
